One of my big goals of this year was to book my first professional speaking engagement at a conference. And I am so happy to announce that I will be speaking and facilitating a workshop at TalkUX Taipei!! I am so excited to have a chance to connect with the international UX community and share what two topics that are dear to me, agile practices and personal development.
First, I will be giving a talk entitled, "How a Agile Saved my Design Team from Disaster". For decades the development world has used agile practices to properly scale their workload and manage expectations. And for decades design has played a guessing game in how much time things will take and many design teams consistently have issues finishing by their deadline… without an all nighter! I will be sharing the journey of my design team as we began to work agile and how it saved us from disaster. I hope that it inspires designers to take an interest in agile practices and apply them on their teams.
Second, I will be facilitating a workshop entitled "Law of the Few". Today at tech companies, we are seeking to spread new ideas and behaviors to the world. In Gladwell's book the Tipping Point he describes the "three rules of epidemics" (or the three "agents of change") that cause the tipping points of epidemics. In this workshop participants will identify: Which of "the few" they are, the qualities and skills they have that help support their “social role”, and what they can develop to push their social roles even further. This workshop is sure to be enlightening and inspiring!
